Recently, our Instagram and X (Twitter) accounts were deleted.
There was no clear warning and no real way to appeal it. Unfortunately, this is something many platforms connected to adult work are dealing with right now. Even when content is legal, consensual, and professional, accounts can still disappear overnight.
Because of this, Velvet22 is now active on Bluesky.
We didn’t move to Bluesky because it’s trendy. We moved because it feels more stable and more respectful — especially for independent providers.
On Instagram and X, a lot of providers deal with:
Random takedowns
Shadowbans
Constant fear of losing their account
Years of work gone in one click
Bluesky doesn’t feel like that (at least not right now).
Moderation is clearer, reach feels more organic, and people aren’t punished just for existing in the adult industry.
Bluesky is still small, and that’s actually a good thing.
There’s less noise, less harassment, and more real conversations. Posts aren’t instantly buried unless you pay. New accounts can still be seen. Engagement feels human again.
We’re seeing more:
Independent workers
Sex workers
Journalists
People who care about free expression
That creates a better environment overall.
We’ll be using Bluesky to:
Share platform updates
Post about new interviews and blog posts
Highlight providers
Communicate more openly
We’re also working on an update that will allow providers to add their Bluesky account directly to their Velvet22 profile.
If Instagram or X disappears tomorrow, we want providers to still have a place where they can be found and heard.
Bluesky isn’t perfect, and we’re not pretending it is. But right now, it’s one of the better options out there.
If you’re tired of rebuilding accounts, losing reach, or walking on eggshells, it’s worth checking out.
We’ll continue to update providers as things evolve.
Velvet22 was built to support independent workers, not fight against them.
Moving to Bluesky isn’t about chasing another platform — it’s about choosing something that feels fairer, calmer, and more sustainable.
We’ll see how it goes. For now, we’re here 💙
